My brakes are squealing — is that dangerous?

Squealing can be caused by dirt, the characteristics of the brake pads themselves, or wear in components of the braking system. The sound alone is not enough to identify the cause reliably. It is worth checking the pads, discs and caliper operation, particularly if braking performance has also deteriorated or you have noticed vibration.

How much does it cost to replace brake pads and discs?

The price depends on the vehicle model, the parts chosen and the scope of work; current labour prices are listed on the service page. Before any repair we check the condition of the braking system, offer parts options and agree the final estimate with you.

Do the discs always need replacing along with the pads?

Not always. We measure the disc thickness and assess its condition. If the disc is within tolerance and has no serious damage, the pads alone can be replaced. If the disc is worn or deeply scored, it is better to replace it together with the pads.

How often should brake fluid be changed?

Brake fluid is usually changed roughly every two years, though the exact interval depends on the manufacturer’s recommendation and its actual condition. Over time the fluid absorbs moisture, which can impair braking performance under heavy load.

The brake pedal feels soft or the car brakes poorly. What should I do?

Do not delay having it checked. The cause may be air in the system, old brake fluid, a leak or a fault in individual components. Until it has been diagnosed, avoid demanding driving and have the braking system inspected at a workshop as soon as possible.
